Team GDP – Caterham Racing… for the avid fan

CaterhamThis year, GDP’s MD, Alan Pegram had his second mid-life crisis and decided to build a race car and take part in the Caterham Academy Race Season.

The Caterham Academy is about learning in a fun and ‘safe’ (see below) environment, and is open to anyone who holds a current UK driving licence. Although the racing is competitive, the Academy is well known for its friendly and open atmosphere and fantastic camaraderie.

The Seven is the most popular racing car in the world today, and with good reason. As well as superb handling and grip, the cars are easy to maintain and have low running costs. For example, you will not need to change your tyres during the Academy season! Caterham racing is well known in motorsport circles for the intensity of the competition and the amount of overtaking that goes on, so you can be certain that you are entering a series that will give you a valuable introduction to the sport.

So far Alan has completed multiple track days and two sprints. Following a rather nasty crash at Silverstone in May, Alan convinced two of our team to join him at an open track day at Brands hatch. All three returned unharmed, feeling triumphant and ready for the next event (sorry guys, my turn next).
